Case study: Vocatio — Career guidance reinvented through immersive video
1. Context and ambition
In a constantly evolving job market, Vocatio has made it its mission to support young people, adults in career transition and newcomers in their career exploration, using immersive tools adapted to today's realities.
In collaboration with HIT FILM Inc. , Vocatio has developed a unique approach: immersive 360° videos displayed in virtual reality (VR) headsets . The goal: to offer a vivid and concrete experience of the professions , going far beyond traditional job descriptions.
2. An intuitive app for self-guided immersion
To facilitate access to and management of videos, a custom application has been developed for Oculus Quest headsets. Designed by HIT FILM Inc., this application allows users to:
To easily navigate between the different job categories
To watch 2D teasers before launching an immersive video
To download or delete the videos as needed
To ensure the smooth management of available space within the helmets
To follow a simple tutorial for standalone use, without going through the Meta Store
This cloud-hosted platform comes with continuous maintenance and dedicated technical support, ensuring a seamless experience for users and stakeholders.
3. A rapidly expanding video collection
To date, Vocatio offers a collection of 28 immersive videos :
13 initial videos covering various essential professions
15 new productions planned or underway, resulting from the partnership with RSSMO and HIT FILM
Each video is designed to provide a realistic immersion into a specific profession, with a duration of 4 to 5 minutes . They are available in high definition for VR headsets, as well as in 2D versions on YouTube and partner websites.
4. A significant on-the-ground presence
In 2024 and 2025, Vocatio's videos were presented at more than 15 major events across Quebec: job fairs, career fairs, open houses, professional training olympiads, etc.
More than 2,200 views have been recorded in events, in addition to hundreds of uses in schools, CEGEPs, youth employment centres and partner organizations .
